PALAMPUR HILL STATION- HOW TO REACH, INTERESTING PLACES ?

         Palampur derives its name from the local word 'palm'- means lots of water. Palampur is a beautiful hill station at the foothills of Dhauladhar ranges-Palampur. It is around 35km from Kangra in the northern state of HIMACHAL PRADESH.

 BY ROAD: Palampur town is well connected through roads to neighbouring important places. Anyone from neighbouring states like Punjab, Jammu, Haryana, Uttarakhand and Delhi can reach here by direct bus service.

       Distance from Palampur to Chandigarh: This distance is around 250 km. It will take around 7.5 hours to reach here by bus.

        Distance from Palampur to Jammu: Main Jammu city is situated around 220 km. It will take around 6 hours by bus on an average to reach here.

       Distance from Palampur to Delhi: Our capital is located around 500 km away from this beautiful town. It will take around 12 hours to reach here by bus.

PALAMPUR RAILWAY STATION(1119M ABOVE SEA LEVEL)

 BY TRAIN: Railways started in Palampur in 1929. Palampur Himachal railway station is at MARANDA around 5km from main PALAMPUR. Palampur town is connected by narrow gauge northern railways. Palampur railway station lies under UNESCO WORLD HERITAGE SITE Kangra Railways.
Palampur railway station is connected to PATHANKOT broad gauge railway station.

I personally recommend you guys to travel by train to enjoy the majestic view of Dhauladhar  ranges.
      Distance from Palampur to Pathankot: This distance is around 127km. It will take around 6 hours to reach Palampur.

PALAMPUR- (GAGGAL AIRPORT) KANGRA

 BY AIR: Main Palampur town is not connected by a national or international airport. The nearest airport is around 40km away at Kangra (GAGGAL AIRPORT). At this moment, only flights from two places are operated there, i.e. Delhi and Chandigarh.
